North Crane is a small, quiet place in Indiana. It's not a big city or town with its own government. Instead, it's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's part of a larger area called Wea Township in Tippecanoe County, in the state of Indiana.
A Look Back in Time
North Crane started a long time ago as a stop for trains. It was on the Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Lafayette Railroad line. This railroad ran southeast from Lafayette.
The train stop was first known as Culver's Station. It was named after a landowner who lived nearby.
Where is North Crane?
North Crane is located on the eastern edge of Wea Township. The land here is about 679 feet above sea level.
If you drive on U.S. 52, just south of Lafayette, you might see a reminder of North Crane. There's an old building called the Crane Station elevator. It used to be part of the community.
