The North Falmouth Village Historic District is a special area in North Falmouth, Massachusetts. It's like a time capsule showing what a village looked like in the 1800s. This district stretches along Old Main Road. It grew because of activities related to the sea, especially around Buzzards Bay. The buildings here show many different styles from the 1800s and early 1900s. This historic district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

A Look at North Falmouth's History
The area of North Falmouth was first home to Native American people. Around the early 1700s, colonists bought the land. This land became part of Falmouth, which was officially formed in 1686.
Early Settlers and Old Homes
The Nye family was among the first settlers. They moved what is likely the oldest building in the district to 96 Old Main Road in 1762. Many Nye family homes still stand today. Out of 24 houses built by Nyes, 14 are still here!
At first, people in the area mostly farmed. But in the early 1800s, working with the sea became very important.
Village Life and Important Buildings
The village's church, the North Village Congregational Church, was built in 1832. It has a style called Greek Revival. In 1848, a post office opened in Ferdinand Nye's house at 200 Old Main Road.
The village grew even more after a railroad came through in 1872. This helped North Falmouth slowly become a popular summer vacation spot.
Community Spaces and Shops
Other important buildings came later. Megansett Hall was built in 1886. It was a place for the community to gather and hold social events. The fire station, which is now a library, was built in 1915.
You can still see two small shops from the 1920s. These are the Falmouth Superette at 279 Old Main Road and the Rand Office Block at Country Road.
