The North Michigan Street-North Superior Street Historic District is a special neighborhood in De Pere, Wisconsin. It's known for its old and historic homes. A historic district is an area with many buildings that are important because of their history or unique architecture.

This neighborhood is one of the oldest residential areas in all of Wisconsin. Imagine houses that have been standing for over 160 years! Some of the homes in this district were built way back in the 1860s. That's even before many modern inventions we use today.

Why is it Historic?

Because of its age and unique buildings, the North Michigan Street-North Superior Street Historic District has been officially recognized as important. It was added to the State Register of Historic Places in 2006. This means the state of Wisconsin sees it as a valuable part of its history.

The next year, in 2007, it was also added to the National Register of Historic Places. This is an even bigger honor! It means the United States government recognizes the district's importance to the history of the entire country. Being on these lists helps protect these old buildings and ensures they can be enjoyed for many more years.
