The North Monmouth Library is a small public library in the village of North Monmouth, Monmouth, Maine. It's a place where everyone can borrow books, read, and learn new things. The library building is located at 132 North Main Street. It's a very special building because of its unique design.
About the Library Building
The North Monmouth Library was built in 1927. It was designed by a local architect named Harry Cochrane. The building has a style called Colonial Revival. This means it looks like older American colonial homes, but it was built much later.
Special Features of the Building
The library has some cool architectural details.
- It has special windows called Palladian windows. These are large windows with three parts: a tall arched window in the middle, and two smaller rectangular windows on each side.
- The main entrance has a small roof supported by columns. This is called a gabled portico. It gives the entrance a grand and welcoming look.
A Historic Landmark
