Notoceratops (which means "southern horned face") was a type of horned dinosaur. We only know about it from a jaw bone found from the Late Cretaceous period. Notoceratops likely walked on four strong legs. It had a big head, a chunky body, and a beak like a parrot. This dinosaur also had cheek teeth and a small frill on its head.

When Was Notoceratops Found?
The dinosaur Notoceratops was first named by a scientist named Augusto Tapia in 1918. He named it after finding part of its lower jaw. This fossil was discovered in a place called Chubut, which is in Argentina.
What Happened to the Original Fossil?
The first Notoceratops bonarelli fossil is now missing. Because of this, some experts are not sure if it was truly a ceratopsian dinosaur. Scientists continue to study other fossils to learn more about these ancient creatures.
