Nottz's Music Journey
Nottz started making music in the late 1990s. A music producer creates the beats and sounds for songs. His early work appeared on a music collection called Lyricist Lounge, Volume One in 1998.
How Nottz Creates Music
Nottz is known for his unique way of making beats. He often takes small parts of old songs, especially soul music, and movie soundtracks. He then puts these pieces together in new ways to create fresh, exciting beats. This method is called "sampling."
Working with Famous Artists
Nottz quickly gained attention for his skills. The famous West Coast hip hop artist, Dr. Dre, has said that Nottz is one of his favorite producers. Dr. Dre even asked Nottz to help with his album Detox, though that album was never released.
Nottz has worked with many well-known artists. He produced three songs for Busta Rhymes' album Extinction Level Event. He also helped the singer Bilal with his album Love for Sale.
Nottz's Own Music and Groups
Nottz is not just a producer; he is also a rapper. He has his own music group called D.M.P., which stands for "Durte Muzik Prahdukshun." They released an album called Nottz Presents D.M.P. in 2005. Later, in 2013, they released another album titled God Made Durt.
In 2010, Nottz released his first solo album, You Need This Music. On this album, he showed off his skills as both a producer and a rapper. He also worked with rapper Asher Roth on a project called Rawth EP.
More Collaborations and Recognition
Nottz continued to work with many big names in hip hop. He produced beats for The Game's albums, including The R.E.D. Album in 2011. In 2012, he teamed up with Kardinal Offishall for a mixtape called A.M.T.R.I.M..
In 2013, Nottz worked with rapper Blu on their collaborative EP, Gods in the Spirit. That same year, he helped Kanye West produce a song called "Nosetalgia" for Pusha T, which also featured Kendrick Lamar.
In 2014, Nottz joined "The Soul Council" production team. This team includes other talented producers. Another famous producer, 9th Wonder, has praised Nottz highly. In 2010, 9th Wonder called Nottz "the best beat maker on Earth right now."
