Nydia Pereyra-Lizaso facts for kids
Nydia Pereyra-Lizaso (born May 12, 1920 – died November 2, 1998) was a talented musician from Uruguay. She was a composer, which means she wrote music. She was also a pianist, playing the piano, and a music educator, teaching music to others.
Her Life and Music
Nydia was born in Rocha, Uruguay in 1920. She loved music from a young age. She studied music at the Conservatory of Teresiano in Rocha. Her teachers included Dolores Bell and Carmen Barrera.
Later, Nydia moved to Montevideo to continue her studies. She learned piano from Wilhelm Kolischer. She studied how to write music with Tomás Mujica and Enrique Casal-Chapí. After finishing her studies, Nydia became a professional composer. She also taught music at the Kolischer Conservatory. She also taught at the Institute of Musical Education.
Nydia's music was played all over the world. Her piece Four miniatures for violin and viola won an award in Germany in 1966. She also won several awards for music she wrote for plays. These awards were from the Casa de Teatro in Uruguay. Nydia also wrote many music books for children. She passed away in November 1998 when she was 78 years old.
