To the northeast, Oak Hills is next to Meadowood. The Connoquenessing Creek forms the northwestern border of the area.

Pennsylvania Route 8 goes through Oak Hills. This road leads about 4 miles (6.4 km) north to downtown Butler. It also goes about 29 miles (47 km) south to downtown Pittsburgh.

A college called Butler County Community College is located right here in Oak Hills.

The United States Census Bureau says that Oak Hills covers a total area of about 3.37 square miles (8.7 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
