Oak Ridge North is a friendly city in Montgomery County, Texas. People often call it simply Oak Ridge. You can find it along Interstate 45, about 10 miles (16 km) south of Conroe and 35 miles north of Houston. In 2020, about 3,057 people lived here.

A Look at Oak Ridge North's Past
How the City Began
In 1964, a company from Arkansas called Spring Pines Corporation bought a large piece of land. Their plan was to build a new neighborhood, or subdivision, right next to Interstate 45. Later, in 1969, another company named United Diversified, Inc. took over the project. By 1971, Associated Properties Company became the main developer and added even more land to the growing community.
Becoming an Official City
During the 1970s, the big city of Houston started expanding and taking over areas closer to Montgomery County. Many people in Oak Ridge North worried that Houston might try to include their community too. To protect their independence, the residents decided to vote. In 1979, they voted to become an official, independent city. This decision helped them keep control over their own community.
Learning in Oak Ridge North
Students in Oak Ridge North attend schools that are part of the Conroe Independent School District.
Younger students go to Oak Ridge Elementary School. After that, they move on to Vogel Intermediate School and then Irons Junior High School. Finally, older students attend Oak Ridge High School.
The city is also part of the Lone Star College System, which offers college courses and programs for students after high school.
