Oakdale is a town located in Monroe County, Wisconsin, in the United States. In the year 2000, about 679 people lived there. A smaller area called the Village of Oakdale is also found within this town.

Oakdale's Economy: Sand Mining
A big part of Oakdale's economy comes from a company called Smart Sand Inc. They operate a large fracking sand mine in the town. This mine covers more than 1,000 Acres of land.
In 2016, Smart Sand Inc. built a special railroad terminal for $10 million. This terminal has almost 7 miles of looped track. It's big enough to hold four trains, each longer than 1.5 miles, to transport the sand.
