The Oakley-Lindsay Center (often called the OLC) is a large building in Quincy, Illinois. It is a special place where many big events happen. Think of it as a central spot for meetings, shows, and fun gatherings in the Quincy area. It opened in 1995 and cost $8 million to build. The OLC helps bring people together from Quincy and nearby towns. It fills a gap between bigger cities like St. Louis and Iowa City.

In 2008, the center became a very important place during a big flood. People filled over one million sandbags there to help protect the area. Many news channels showed the OLC and its sandbagging efforts. Even Barack Obama, who was running for president at the time, visited on June 14.

Where to Find the OLC

The Oakley-Lindsay Center is located just south of downtown Quincy. It is near Gardner Expressway (Illinois Route 57) and only three blocks from the Mississippi River. Many cool places in Quincy are close by. You can walk to historic spots like the Villa Kathrine. There are also many hotels, the downtown area, and parks along the river.

What You Can Do at the OLC

The Oakley-Lindsay Center has different spaces for all sorts of events. From big concerts to small meetings, there's a spot for everything.

The McClain-Kent Hall

This is the biggest room at the OLC. It is about 30,000 square feet (2,800 m2) in size. This huge hall can hold up to 3,500 people! It is used for large events like concerts and big shows. For example, the yearly WGEM Home & Living Show takes place here.

The Oakley and Lindsay Rooms

These rooms are smaller and perfect for groups. They are often used for seminars, workshops, and business conferences. They are great for learning or working together in a smaller setting.
