The Name Ochlockonee

The name "Ochlockonee" has an interesting origin. It comes from the Muskogean language. The Muskogean people are Native Americans who have lived in the southeastern United States for a very long time. In their language, "Ochlockonee" means "yellow water." This name likely refers to the color of the water in the Ochlockonee River, which flows through the area.
