History of the Ogden Theatre
The Ogden Theatre first opened as a movie theater. It was part of a group of theaters owned by Fox. Later, the government made some changes to how big movie companies could be. Because of this, the Ogden Theatre was bought by a company called National General Corporation (NGC).
Changes Over the Years
In 1970, the theater got a big makeover. They added a new sign outside. The inside lobby and main seating areas were also updated. They made sure the screen could show all kinds of movies. The sound system was improved too.
In 1977, the theater changed hands again. It was bought by Mann Theatres. In the 1980s, the Ogden Theatre became known for showing classic movies. It famously played the cult movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show every Saturday night. Over the years, the Ogden Theatre has been renovated many times. Its signs outside have also changed often.
From Movies to Music
In the late 1980s, the theater was sold a few more times. It eventually closed in 1990. The building was almost torn down! But then, a person named Doug Kauffman bought it in 1992. He was a promoter for live music. Kauffman had a vision to turn the Ogden Theatre into a top music venue.
The Ogden Theatre reopened in 1993 as a concert hall. Today, it hosts around 150 concerts each year. In 2006, a company called AEG Live started managing the venue.
