History of the Ogden Theatre
The Ogden Theatre started as part of the Fox Theater chain. These were movie theaters all over the country. Later, the theater was bought by a company called National General Corporation (NGC).
Changes and Renovations
In 1970, the theater had a big makeover. They added a new sign outside, called a marquee. The inside lobby and main seating areas were also completely redone. They even updated the screen to show different types of movies.
In 1977, another company, Mann Theatres, took over. In the 1980s, the Ogden Theatre became known as a "revival house." This meant it showed older, popular movies. One famous movie shown every Saturday night was The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The Ogden Theatre has been updated many times over the years. Both the inside and outside have changed. Different marquee signs have been used. The flat marquee you see today was added in the 1970s and improved in 1993.
From Movies to Music
In the late 1980s, the theater changed owners several times. It finally closed in 1990. There were even plans to tear it down! But in 1992, a person named Doug Kauffman bought the building. He owned a company that promoted live music.
Doug Kauffman had a great idea. He wanted to turn the Ogden Theatre into a top place for live music. His vision came true! The Ogden Theatre reopened in 1993. Today, it hosts about 150 concerts every year. In 2006, another company, AEG Live, started managing the venue.
