Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Ohlman is a small, quiet place in the western part of Reynolds County, in the state of Missouri in the United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger county.

Discovering Ohlman's Location

Ohlman is situated where two important roads meet: Missouri Route 72 and Missouri Route TT. Imagine a crossroads in the countryside – that's where you'd find Ohlman! It's about five miles southeast of a town called Bunker and just 2.5 miles northwest of another place named Reynolds. This location helps people find their way around this part of Reynolds County.

A Glimpse into Ohlman's Past

Even though Ohlman is a small community today, it has a bit of history. A post office was opened there in 1907. Post offices were very important back then because they were the main way people sent and received letters, packages, and news. It was a vital connection for the people living in and around Ohlman. However, this post office didn't stay open for very long; it closed its doors in 1915. The community itself was named after a person named James Ohlman, who was the original owner of the land where the community was established.
