Okinawa Uno, also known as Colonia Okinawa or simply Okinawa, is a small city in Bolivia. It is also a municipality, which is like a local government area. You can find it in the Ignacio Warnes Province within the Santa Cruz Department.

About Okinawa Uno
This town is located about 146 kilometers (about 90 miles) northeast of the big city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. It sits between two rivers: the Río Grande to the east and the Pailón River to the west. As of the 2024 census, about 10,508 people live in the Okinawa Uno municipality.
A Bit of History
Okinawa Uno was started by people who moved from Okinawa, a group of islands in Japan. These "Okinawan immigrants" came to Bolivia after the Second World War ended. In the mid-1960s, the town grew quite a lot. At its busiest, there were 565 families and over 3,000 Okinawan people living there.
