The Oklahoma Railway Museum is a special place in Oklahoma City. It is a non-profit organization, which means it uses all its money to help the museum grow. The museum gets its funding from people who become members, ticket sales for train rides, special events, and donations. It also receives grants for projects to fix up old trains.

The museum has about 210 members, with around 50 people actively helping out. All the train operations follow important safety rules set by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). The museum is also part of groups like the HeritageRail Alliance and Frontier Country Tourism. It is also an associate member of the Adventure District of Oklahoma City.

Riding the Trains

The museum has four diesel locomotives that are ready to go. They also have many different railcars. You can actually ride a train at the museum! Train rides happen on the first and third Saturday of every month. This is from April through September. Rides usually start at 9:15 AM, 11:15 AM, 1:15 PM, and 3:15 PM.

Amazing Trains and Engines

The museum has a fantastic collection of trains. They have 10 diesel and steam locomotive engines. They also have 10 passenger cars. Plus, there is lots of equipment used to maintain the tracks and freight cars.

From October 16, 2021, through the spring of 2022, a special "guest" steam engine named "Sadie" was at the museum. Sadie was built in 1931. She was made at the Vulcan Iron Works in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Fun Events All Year

The Oklahoma Railway Museum hosts many fun events throughout the year. Besides "Day Out With Thomas," they have a Halloween Train. They also have a special Christmas Train.

The museum offers different places to host birthday parties. You can even charter a whole train for your own private event!
