Old Bath is a small, quiet place in Indiana. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and people that don't have their own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Bath Township in Franklin County, Indiana. It's a bit like a neighborhood without its own mayor or city council.
History of Old Bath
The area now known as Old Bath was first planned out, or "platted," in the year 1815. This means that maps were drawn to show where streets and buildings would go. The community was given the name "Bath" because it was located within Bath Township.
For many years, it was simply called Bath. However, things changed in 1903. A new community, called New Bath, was started nearby. This new place was built along a railroad line, which was very important for travel and trade back then. To tell the two places apart, the original community became known as Old Bath.
