Old Gore, Ohio facts for kids
Old Gore is a small, quiet place in Hocking County, Ohio, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community," which means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
History
Old Gore was first known simply as Gore. Later, something big happened nearby: a blast furnace was built. A blast furnace is like a giant oven used to melt metal, often to make iron. Because of this new furnace, two other nearby places, Hamlin and Burgessville, decided to join together. When they merged, they formed a new community that became known as "New Gore." This is why the original settlement became known as Old Gore, to tell it apart from the newer place.
