Ole Svane Thestrup (born March 12, 1948 – died February 2, 2018) was a famous Danish actor. He starred in many Danish movies, TV shows, and plays. You might know him from the TV series Borgen or movies by director Anders Thomas Jensen.
About Ole Thestrup
Ole Thestrup was born in Nibe, Denmark, on March 12, 1948. Before becoming an actor, he wanted to be a guitarist! He started acting training at the Aarhus Theatre when he was 25. He finished his training in 1976. Later, he also performed at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen.
Ole Thestrup passed away on February 2, 2018, at his home in Tuse Næs. He had been unwell, which led him to stop acting in April 2017.
Ole Thestrup's Acting Career
Ole Thestrup started his TV career in the early 1980s. He was in the comedy show Een stor familie (1982–1983). He also appeared in the 1986 Christmas show Jul på Slottet. People thought he was perfect for that role.
In the early 2000s, he played the Captain in a play called Woyzeck. This play was directed by Robert Wilson.
A director named Anders Thomas Jensen often chose Ole Thestrup for his films. Their first movie together was the short film Election Night in 1998. This film even won an Oscar!
Ole Thestrup also acted in many of Jensen's other movies. These include Flickering Lights (2000), The Green Butchers (2003), Adam's Apples (2005), and Men & Chicken (2015).
He was also well-known for his role in the TV series Borgen. This show is about politics in Denmark. Ole Thestrup played Svend Åge Saltum, a politician, in all three seasons of the show.
