History of Olive

The community of Olive got its start a long time ago. A post office was opened here on November 20, 1896. The town was named after the daughter of its very first postmaster.

However, the post office closed down on September 30, 1938. In 1974, a powerful tornado struck Olive. It caused a lot of damage to the community.

Life in Olive Today

Today, Olive is a small but active community. According to the 2020 Census, about 110 people live here. There are around 42 homes in the area.

The community has three churches, which are important gathering places. There is also a convenience store called "Happy Corner." It's a handy spot for residents to pick up everyday items.

Olive is home to a small school that serves students from Pre-Kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. About 465 students attend this school. It plays a big role in the community.
