The olive-backed foliage-gleaner (Automolus infuscatus) is a small bird. It belongs to the Furnariidae family, which includes many birds found in Central and South America. This bird lives in the warm, wet forests of the Amazon Basin.
About the Olive-backed Foliage-Gleaner
This bird is known for its olive-colored back. It spends its time looking for food among the leaves. That's why it's called a "foliage-gleaner." It was first described in 1856 by Philip Sclater.
Where It Lives
The olive-backed foliage-gleaner lives in humid forests. You can find it in most parts of the Amazon Basin. However, it is not found in the southeastern Amazon. Another bird, the Para foliage-gleaner, lives there instead.
Its Relatives
The olive-backed foliage-gleaner and the Para foliage-gleaner are very similar. For a long time, scientists thought they were the same species. But recently, they were recognized as two different, but closely related, species.
