Olivet's Story: How It Began
Olivet was started in 1869. By the end of that first year, the town already had several important businesses. These included a general store, a hotel, a sawmill, and a shop for wagons and blacksmith work. Olivet officially became a city in 1870.
The city also had its own post office. It first opened in 1870. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed its doors in 1971.
