Olivia Rossetti Agresti (born in 1875, died in 1960) was a British writer, editor, and interpreter. She was also an activist who worked for different causes throughout her life. Olivia came from a very famous family in England, known for their art and writing. Her journey through different political ideas was quite unique. She started by supporting anarchism, then worked with the League of Nations, and later became involved with Italian Fascism. Her work with the latter led to an important friendship and letters with the famous poet Ezra Pound. He even mentioned her in his long poem, Cantos.

Early Life and Activism

When Olivia and her younger sister, Helen Rossetti Angeli (born 1879, died 1969), were still young girls, they started their own journal called The Torch. This journal shared ideas about anarchism. Anarchism is a belief that people can live together peacefully without needing a government to rule them.

Years later, Olivia and Helen wrote a book together called A Girl Among the Anarchists. They used the pen name "Isabel Meredith" for this book. It was a story based on their own experiences as young people who believed in revolutionary ideas.

Later Work and Interests

As Olivia grew older, her interests changed. She became involved with the League of Nations, which was an international group formed after World War I. Its main goal was to help countries work together to prevent future wars and promote peace.

Later in her life, Olivia became involved with Italian Fascism. This was a political movement in Italy. During this time, she became friends with the American poet Ezra Pound. They wrote many letters to each other, discussing ideas and their work. Olivia's life shows how one person's beliefs and involvements can change over time.
