Olivier Chansou's Career Journey
Early Career and Education
Olivier Chansou studied at the ENAC. This is the same university he now leads. He also earned a Master of Science degree in computer science.
He started his career in 1990 at the Directorate General for Civil Aviation. This is the main government group in France that manages everything about flying. From 1990 to 1995, he worked in Paris. He was in charge of the department that handled equipment used in aircraft.
Moving Up in Aviation Management
From 1995 to 1998, Olivier Chansou was a deputy in the department for real-time equipment. This equipment helps things work instantly, like in air traffic control.
After that, from 1998 to 2002, he became a deputy head. He worked in the technical staff office at the Directorate of Air Navigation Services (DSNA). This group helps manage air traffic. From 2002 to 2006, he led the systems and methods department at the DSNA.
Leading Air Traffic Control
From 2006 to 2009, Olivier Chansou was the head of the Air Traffic Control center in Bordeaux. Air Traffic Control is like the brain of the sky. It guides planes safely from one place to another.
He then became the Deputy Director of Staff for the DGAC from 2009 to 2012. From 2012 to 2017, he managed four different departments for the DSNA in the South-West region, including Bordeaux.
Becoming Director of ENAC
On November 27, 2017, something very important happened. The French President Emmanuel Macron chose Olivier Chansou for a big role. He was appointed as the CEO, or director-general, of the ENAC. He took over from Marc Houalla. This means he is now in charge of this major aviation university.
