Omar Andrés Narváez (born October 7, 1975) is a famous Argentine professional boxer. He is known for being a world champion in two different weight classes. He held the WBO flyweight title from 2002 to 2010. Then, he won the WBO junior bantamweight title, holding it from 2010 to 2014.
Omar Narváez shares a world record with Julio César Chávez for the most successful defenses of world titles, with 27 defenses. He is also the longest-reigning flyweight champion in boxing history. Before becoming a professional, Narváez was an amateur boxer. He even represented Argentina at the 2000 Olympics.

Amateur Career
Omar Narváez had a very successful amateur boxing career. This is when boxers compete without getting paid. He won many important medals for his country.
- He earned a gold medal at the 1999 Pan American Games.
- In 1996, he competed in the Olympics as a flyweight. He won one fight but then lost another.
- He won a bronze medal at the 1997 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Professional Career
After his amateur success, Omar Narváez became a professional boxer. This means he started fighting for money and world titles.
He won his first world title, the WBO world flyweight title, on July 13, 2002. He beat Adonis Rivas by a unanimous decision. He was an amazing champion, defending this title 15 times against many different boxers. Some of them included Luis Alberto Lazarate, Andrea Sarritzu, and Brahim Asloum.
Later, he moved up to a heavier weight class called Super Flyweight. On May 15, 2010, he won the WBO Super Flyweight title. He defeated Everth Briceno in Buenos Aires, Argentina. That same year, he received the Platinum Konex Award. This award recognized him as the best boxer in Argentina over the past ten years.
On October 22, 2011, Narváez faced Nonito Donaire in a bantamweight fight. He lost this fight by unanimous decision. This was his first loss as a professional boxer.
After this, he returned to the super flyweight division. He won back the WBO world super flyweight title. He defended it 11 more times. His reign ended on December 30, 2014, when he was knocked out by Naoya Inoue in the second round.
Narvaez vs. Potapov
On October 14, 2017, Narváez fought Nikolay Potapov. Potapov was a highly ranked boxer at the time. Narváez won the fight by technical knockout in the seventh round. This was a big win for him.
Narvaez vs. Tete
On April 21, 2018, Omar Narváez challenged Zolani Tete for the WBO bantamweight title. Tete won the fight by a unanimous decision after 12 rounds. All the judges scored the fight 120-108 in Tete's favor.
