Omobola Olubusola Johnson (born on June 28, 1963) is a Nigerian expert in technology. She is the Honorary Chairperson of the global Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI). She was also the very first Minister of Communication Technology in Nigeria. She served in the government of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Education and Learning
Omobola Johnson went to the International School Ibadan for her early education. She then studied at the University of Manchester in the UK, where she earned a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Later, she got a master's degree in Digital Electronics from King's College London. She also holds a special doctorate degree, a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), from Cranfield University.
Career and Achievements
Before becoming a minister, Omobola Johnson was the country managing director for Accenture in Nigeria. Accenture is a big company that helps other businesses with their technology and management. She started working there in 1985 when it was known as Andersen Consulting.
Minister of Communication Technology
In 2011, Omobola Johnson became the first head of Nigeria's Ministry of Communication Technology. This new ministry was created to help improve technology and communication across the country. During her time as minister, she achieved many important things:
- NigComSat-IR Satellite: Her ministry launched a satellite called NigComSat-IR. This helped improve internet and communication services in Nigeria. It worked with fiber optic cables to provide faster internet.
- School Access Programme (SAP): This program gave over 700 computers to secondary schools. It helped students learn and use technology.
- Tertiary Institution Access Programme (TIAP): This program provided internet access to about 193 universities and colleges in Nigeria.
- Community Communication Centers: About 146 communities across the country got access to these centers. They helped people in rural areas connect and communicate.
In May 2013, Omobola Johnson presented Nigeria's National Broadband Plan for 2013 to 2018. This plan aimed to make fast internet available to more people. In September 2013, she was also given the extra job of overseeing the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.
Current Roles
Today, Omobola Johnson is a non-executive director at several companies. These include Guinness Nigeria PLC and MTN, which is a big telecommunications company. She is also the Chairperson of Custodian and Allied Insurance Limited. Additionally, she is a senior partner at TLCOM, a company that invests in new businesses.
Personal Life
Omobola Johnson is married and has children. Her father-in-law was Mobolaji Johnson, who was a military governor of Lagos State.
