One Boston Place is a very tall office building in Boston, Massachusetts. It is also known as the Boston Company Building. This skyscraper has 41 floors and stands 601 feet (183 meters) tall. That makes it one of the tallest buildings in Boston, ranking as the 6th tallest in the city.
Even though it looks simple, One Boston Place is a famous landmark. It has a special design with diagonal lines on the outside and a unique "box" shape on its roof. Since it was finished in 1970, many different companies have had their offices here. These include law firms, financial companies, and real estate businesses.

Building History
The idea for One Boston Place came from architect Pietro Belluschi. The company Cabot, Cabot & Forbes helped build it. Construction started in November 1967. The first businesses moved into their new offices in March 1970.
Design and Special Features
One Boston Place is built with a strong steel frame. It has a central core made of masonry. The building has 18 elevators for people and one large elevator for moving goods. These elevators were updated in 2005.
The main entrance has a modern glass wall. The diagonal lines you see on the outside of the building are part of a style called structural expressionism. This means the building's structure is part of its design.
Green Building Efforts
One Boston Place is also known for being environmentally friendly. In October 2007, it was recognized by the EPA's ENERGY STAR program. This program celebrates buildings that save energy.
In November 2008, One Boston Place became the first building in the world to get a Gold certification from the US Green Building Council. This award is called LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance (LEED EB O&M). It means the building is very good at being green.
Some of its eco-friendly features include:
- A bright white roof that reflects sunlight and keeps the building cooler.
- Using native plants around the building's plaza.
- Making sure the air inside the building is clean and healthy.
