About One-Eye Lake

One-Eye Lake is known for its clear, clean water. It's a great place to enjoy nature. The lake is about 4.5 km (2.8 mi) long and 1.5 km (0.93 mi) wide. Its deepest point is around 9.8 m (32 ft).

Rivers and Water Flow

The Klinaklini River is very important to One-Eye Lake. It is the only river that flows into and out of the lake. After leaving the lake to the west, the Klinaklini River soon joins another river called the McClinchy River. This connection helps keep the lake's water fresh and moving.

How One-Eye Lake Got Its Name

The lake gets its unique name from a person known as Chief One-Eye. He was a local leader who was known for having only one eye. Chief One-Eye was laid to rest on the north side of the lake in 1911. This makes the lake's name a tribute to his memory.
