Oreo O's is a popular breakfast cereal. It tastes like the famous Oreo cookies. The cereal pieces are shaped like the letter "O".
This cereal was first created by an advertising employee. It was introduced in 1997 by a company called Post Cereals. In 2001, the cereal got a new recipe. This new recipe included real creme filling, just like the cookie. There was even a special version called Extreme Creme Taste Oreo O's. This version had marshmallows that tasted like Oreo filling.
Oreo O's were sold from 1997 until 2007. After 2007, they were only available in South Korea. But good news came in May 2017! Post Cereals announced that Oreo O's would be made again. Production started on June 23, 2017, and has continued ever since.

Advertising the Cereal
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, many TV commercials promoted Oreo O's. These ads helped kids and families learn about the new cereal.
The Créme Team
The special "Extreme Crème Oreo O's" even had its own TV ad in 2001. This commercial featured characters called the "Créme Team." They were humanoid marshmallows wearing cool sunglasses. The ad showed that Extreme Crème Oreo O's had a stronger chocolate taste and were creamier.
Why Oreo O's Disappeared
Oreo O's was a product made together by two big companies. These were Post Cereals and Kraft Foods. They shared the rights, how the cereal was sold, and the profits. The cereal was very popular and sold well. Parents also approved of it as a good breakfast choice.
The Rights Problem
In 2007, the two companies stopped working together on this product. This made it impossible to produce the cereal. Kraft Foods owned the rights to the name Oreo. However, Post Cereals owned the rights to the cereal recipe itself. Neither company wanted to give up their rights. Because of this disagreement, Oreo O's stopped being sold around the world.
Where to Find Oreo O's Internationally
Even though Oreo O's stopped being sold globally, there was a special situation. This allowed the cereal to keep being made in South Korea. People outside South Korea could sometimes buy boxes of the cereal online. These boxes were often sold for a high price.
The South Korean Connection
A Korean food company called Dongsuh Foods was involved. It was a joint company with General Foods and Dongsuh Companies Inc. Dongsuh Foods had the right to make Post Foods cereals in Korea. When Kraft Foods bought General Foods, half of Dongsuh Foods' ownership went to Kraft. This meant Dongsuh Foods was the only company that had both licenses needed. They had the rights from Post Foods and the rights for Oreo. This allowed them to keep making Oreo O's.
Product Recall and Return
In 2014, Dongsuh had a product recall. This was due to some quality concerns with their product. However, in September 2016, Dongsuh started selling Oreo O's again in South Korea. This happened after they separated from General Foods.
The Cereal's Big Comeback
In early 2017, a company related to Post, called Malt-O-Meal Cereals, started selling a similar cereal. They sold it in the United States as a test. This cereal was called "Cookies & Cream." It was sold in bags at many Walmart stores. It did not use the Oreo name because of licensing rules. Also, the marshmallows from the 2001 version were not included.
Worldwide Re-release
The "Cookies & Cream" cereal sold very well. Because of this, Post announced that Nabisco would once again work with them. This meant Oreo O's would be re-released worldwide. On June 23, the original 1997 recipe for Oreo O's came back. It was first sold exclusively at Walmart. By 2018, the cereal was available in all grocery stores.
Mega Stuf Oreo O's
On June 17, 2019, Walmart began selling a new version. This version included the marshmallows from the 2001 recipe. Instead of "Extreme Créme Oreo O's," it was called "Mega Stuf Oreo O's." This version was also a Walmart exclusive product.
