Oriole is a small, quiet place in Indiana, a state in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and buildings that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Oil Township in Perry County.
History of Oriole
Oriole has a simple but interesting past. A post office was opened here in 1890. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed down in 1967.
The community got its name from a beautiful bird. It was named after the New World oriole. These birds are known for their bright colors, often orange and black.
