Orippo was an ancient Roman town located in what is now southern Spain. It was part of a Roman province called Hispania Baetica. This town was important because it sat on a main road connecting two major Roman cities: Gades (which is now Cádiz) and Hispalis (which is now Seville).
History of Orippo
Historians believe Orippo might have been located near the modern-day town of Dos Hermanas. Some also think it could have been near Alcalá de Guadaíra or a place called Torre de los Herberos. The exact spot is still debated by experts.
We know a bit about Orippo from old coins found there. These ancient coins often showed a bunch of grapes. This tells us that the area around Orippo was famous for its vineyards and wine. Even today, this region is known for its delicious wines!
