How Dos Hermanas Got Its Name
The name Dos Hermanas means "Two Sisters" in Spanish. This name comes from the town's founding in 1248. King Ferdinand III of Castile named the town to honor two sisters, Elvira and Estefanía Nazareno. They were the sisters of Gonzalo Nazareno, an important military leader for the king. Because of this, people from Dos Hermanas are often called nazarenos (for boys and men) or nazarenas (for girls and women).
