Osama "Ozzie" Malik (Arabic: أسامة ملك; born 30 September 1990) is an Australian professional footballer. He plays as a defensive midfielder (a player who helps protect the defense) or a centre-back (a central defender).
Ozzie Malik's Football Journey
Ozzie Malik started his football journey with the youth team of Adelaide United when the 2008-09 A-League season began. Before this, he played for local clubs like Croydon Kings and Adelaide Raiders. He made his first senior team appearance at just 17 years old. In early 2008, Ozzie even spent two weeks training with the Italian club Torino.
Adelaide United manager Aurelio Vidmar brought Ozzie into the main team. This happened when striker Paul Agostino was injured for the FIFA Club World Cup. Ozzie made his professional debut on December 14, 2008. He played in a match against Gamba Osaka, coming on as a substitute in the 77th minute.
On June 3, 2009, Ozzie signed a one-year contract with the North Queensland Fury. He joined as an under-21 player. Before this, he had spent most of the previous year playing for Adelaide Galaxy.
For the 2011-12 season, Ozzie signed with Adelaide United again. The team's manager at the time was Rini Coolen. On May 17, 2011, Adelaide United asked North Queensland Fury if Ozzie could join them earlier. This request was approved, allowing Ozzie to play for Adelaide United for the rest of the 2010-11 season.
Ozzie Malik later joined Melbourne City in January 2016.
Playing for Odisha
In June 2022, it was announced that the Indian Super League club Odisha had signed Ozzie Malik. He joined them on a one-year deal. On August 23, he played his first game for the club. This was against Kerala Blasters in the Durand Cup, where his team won 2–0.
