Osamu Maeda (前田 治, Maeda Osamu, born September 5, 1965) is a former professional Japanese soccer player. He was a forward, which means he played in an attacking position to score goals. Maeda played for the Japan national team and for the club Yokohama Flügels.

Osamu Maeda's Club Career

Osamu Maeda was born in Fukuoka, Japan, on September 5, 1965. After finishing his studies at Tokai University, he joined a soccer club called All Nippon Airways in 1988. This club later became known as Yokohama Flügels.

Early Success with Yokohama Flügels

In his very first season, 1988-89, his club did really well. They finished in second place in the Japan Soccer League. Osamu Maeda played so well that he was chosen for the "Best Eleven" team that year. This means he was considered one of the top 11 players in the league.

Winning Trophies

Maeda continued to play for Yokohama Flügels. In 1993, his team won the Emperor's Cup, which is a very important soccer tournament in Japan. They also had success in Asia. The club won the 1994–95 Asian Cup Winners' Cup and the 1995 Asian Super Cup. These were big wins for the team on the international stage. Osamu Maeda played for Yokohama Flügels until 1996, when he retired from playing professional soccer.

Osamu Maeda's National Team Career

Osamu Maeda also had the honor of playing for his country, the Japan national team. He made his first appearance for Japan on January 27, 1988, in a game against the United Arab Emirates.

He quickly became a regular player for the national team. He even played in the qualification games for the 1990 FIFA World Cup. This is a huge tournament where countries from all over the world compete. Between 1988 and 1989, Osamu Maeda played 14 games for Japan and scored 6 goals.
