Osamu Taninaka (谷中 治, Taninaka Osamu, born September 24, 1964) is a former Japanese football player. He was born in Fuchu, Tokyo, and played as a forward. Taninaka is also known for playing for the Japan national team.

Playing for Clubs

Osamu Taninaka started his football journey after finishing high school. In 1983, he joined a club called Fujita Industries. This team was part of the Japan Soccer League, which was a major league in Japan at the time.

He played for Fujita Industries for many years, from 1983 to 1991. After that, he moved to another club called PJM Futures in 1991. This team later changed its name to Tosu Futures. Taninaka continued to play football until he retired in 1995.

Playing for Japan

Osamu Taninaka also had the chance to play for his country. He joined the Japan national team when he was 20 years old. His first game for Japan was on September 30, 1984, against South Korea. He played a total of 3 games for the national team between 1984 and 1986.
