The Osborn Range is a small group of mountains in Nunavut, Canada. It is found on Ellesmere Island, which is a very large island in the far north. This mountain range is special because it is one of the most northern mountain ranges in the entire world!

What is the Osborn Range?

The Osborn Range is part of a much larger system called the Arctic Cordillera. This is a huge chain of mountains that stretches across the northeastern part of Canada. The Osborn Range itself is not very big. It sits near a long, narrow inlet of the sea called Tanquary Fiord.

Where is it Located?

You can find the Osborn Range on the northwest side of Tanquary Fiord. It is located on the north-central part of Ellesmere Island. This area is very remote and wild. The range is just outside the borders of Quttinirpaaq National Park. This park is known for its amazing Arctic landscapes.

What About its Highest Point?

The Osborn Range has one mountain that is officially named. This mountain is called Mount Townsend. It stands at about 1,235 meters (4,052 feet) tall. Mount Townsend is located at the southwest edge of the range. It is near a place called McKinley Bay. A large ice river, known as the Chapman Glacier, helped to shape this area.
