Life and Racing Career
Oscar Gálvez was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on August 17, 1913. He became a very popular racing driver.
He often competed in the Turismo Carretera series, which is a popular type of stock car racing in Argentina. Oscar was a champion many times in this series, just like his brother, Juan.
Oscar Gálvez often raced in cars made by the Ford company. One of his most famous wins was in 1960. He won the Argentine Highway Grand Prix that year. This was a very long race, covering about 2,860 miles (4,600 km) of Argentine highways! Oscar raced in this grand event several times.
Legacy and Memory
Oscar Gálvez passed away on December 16, 1989, at the age of 76. To honor him and his brother, the famous Buenos Aires racing circuit was renamed after them. This shows how important they were to Argentine motorsport.
