Osceola, South Dakota facts for kids
Osceola is a small, quiet place in South Dakota, in a part of the state called Kingsbury County. It's not a big city or town, but more like a neighborhood without its own local government. You can find Osceola in the western part of Kingsbury County, right by the South Fork Pearl River. It's about six miles southwest of another small community called Bancroft.
A Look Back at Osceola
Osceola has a simple but interesting history. A post office was opened here in 1888. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years. It stayed open until 1960. The community got its name from Osceola, Iowa. Many of the first people who settled in this area came from that town in Iowa.
