Oskaloosa is very close to the border between Missouri and Kansas, just about one mile east of it. Right next to the border, in Kansas, you'll find the town of Arcadia, Kansas. A road called Missouri Route K passes just north of Oskaloosa. A stream named Dry Wood Creek flows about one mile to the east of the community.
A Look Back: Oskaloosa's History
Oskaloosa had a post office that opened in 1894. It stayed open for many years, finally closing in 1953. The community was named after Oskaloosa, Iowa. This is because some of the very first people who settled in Oskaloosa, Missouri, came from that town in Iowa.
