His Life and Work
Osman Cemal Kaygılı started his writing career early. In 1910, he began writing for a magazine called Eşek. This was the start of his journey as a writer.
Later, in 1925, he became a teacher. He taught the Turkish language at the Istanbul Imam Hatip school. After that, he also taught at Çemberlitaş Boys' School. He helped many students learn about their language.
In 1931, he returned to writing for magazines. He started writing for Yeni Gün magazine. He had a special column there called Corners and parishes of Istanbul, where he shared his thoughts and observations about the city. He also wrote for other important newspapers like Akşam, İkdam, Cumhuriyet, Son Saat, and Açıksöz. He often wrote a column about the latest news, like a modern-day news reporter.
