Ossi Runne (born April 23, 1927 – died November 5, 2020) was a talented musician from Finland. He was known for playing the trumpet, leading orchestras, writing music, and producing records.

Ossi Runne's Musical Journey

Ossi Runne changed his last name in 1936. When he started his career, he was famous as a trumpeter and a band leader.

In 1957, he returned to Finland. Before that, he was a conductor for the China Variety Orchestra in Stockholm. Back in Finland, he started working at Musiikki-Fazer. This was a music company where he managed a studio.

In 1965, Ossi Runne joined Yleisradio. This is Finland's national broadcasting company. He became the main conductor for their national radio orchestra. Later, he also led the TV 1 orchestra. He stopped working in both roles in 1992.

Conducting at Eurovision

Ossi Runne is perhaps best known for his work at the Eurovision Song Contest. He conducted Finland's songs many times. He led 22 Finnish entries in total, with his last one in 1989.

He also worked as a commentator for Yleisradio during Eurovision. He did this in 1981 and again in 1990.

His Autobiography

In 2003, Ossi Runne wrote a book about his life. It was called Trumpetilla ja tahtipuikolla. This means "With the trumpet and the baton."
