History of Otsego Lake State Park

Otsego Lake State Park has a long history. It was one of the first state parks created in Michigan. The park opened in 1920. This happened soon after the Michigan State Parks Commission was formed in 1919.

In the 1930s, a group called the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) helped improve the park. They built a wooden bathhouse in 1934. The CCC was a program that helped people find jobs during a tough time. They worked on many parks across the country.
