Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church is a Roman Catholic church located in Fulham, London. It was designed by Benedict Williamson, who was an architect before he became a Catholic priest. You can find the church on Stephendale Road. Its parish house is on Tynemouth Street.

Inside the Church

The church has tall, classic columns and Romanesque arches. These features make the inside feel very bright and open. They also make the church look much bigger than it actually is.

The church was built right after Tutankhamen's tomb was discovered in Egypt. Because of this, you can see some Egyptian-inspired designs inside. Each of the Stations of the Cross also has its own special message or meditation.

A Special History

The story of this church began in 1914. A local lady lost her son during the First World War. To honor his memory, she decided to build a church.

In 1922, she bought the land, which used to be a rubbish dump. She then had the church of Our Lady built there. To celebrate the new church, she gave a silver cup to the first baby baptized there. She also gave a set of furniture to the first couple who got married in the church. It has been a local parish church ever since.
