Playing Career
Early Days and First Steps Abroad
Ovidiu Burcă's football talent was noticed early. He joined the Gheorghe Popescu Football School to develop his skills.
In 1998, he started his professional career in Ecuador with Emelec. He played his first game in a big match called the "Clásico del Astillero." An injury kept him off the field for a few months, but he still played six league games for the team.
After Ecuador, he moved to Japan. He played for JEF United Ichihara and then for Ventforet Kofu. He scored one goal in 16 matches for Ventforet Kofu.
Returning to Romania
Burcă came back to Romania in 2001 to play for Universitatea Craiova. He made his debut in Romania's top league, then called Divizia A (now Liga I). He also played in European competitions, like the Intertoto Cup. When the owner of Craiova moved to Dinamo București, Burcă and several other players joined him.
Success with Dinamo București
At Dinamo București, Burcă achieved great success. He helped the team win the Romanian Cup in 2003. The next season, Dinamo won "The Double," which means they won both the league title (Divizia A) and the Romanian Cup in the same year. Burcă played in 22 league games that season.
He also played in the UEFA Cup and the Champions League qualifiers. His last trophy with Dinamo was another Romanian Cup in 2005. During his time at Dinamo, he also played for their smaller teams, Poiana Câmpina and Dinamo II.

Playing in Germany and China
In 2007, Burcă moved to Germany to play for Bundesliga team Energie Cottbus. He faced a serious injury in his first season, which kept him from playing.
In 2008, he was loaned to Beijing Guoan in China, where he scored one goal in 15 games. After returning to Energie Cottbus, he made his Bundesliga debut in 2009. The team was relegated to the second division, but Burcă stayed and became a captain there too.
Final Years in Romania
