Village Disbanding Idea
In 2021, the people of Owensville had to vote on an important question: should the village stop being a village? If it stopped, residents would no longer pay a special 1% tax. Also, the village's police force, which had 12 officers, would be closed down. The community would then rely on the Clermont County sheriff's department for police services.
However, most voters did not want the village to disband. Almost 70% of the people voted against the idea, so Owensville remains a village with its own police force.
