Ozzie Timmons, born on September 18, 1970, is an American who used to play and coach professional baseball. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1995 to 2000. During his playing career, he was an outfielder for teams like the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He also played baseball in Japan for the Chunichi Dragons in 2001. After his playing days, Ozzie became a baseball coach.

Ozzie Timmons' Playing Career
Early Baseball Days
Ozzie Timmons grew up in Brandon, Florida. He went to Brandon High School and then to the University of Tampa. While at the university, he played college baseball for the Tampa Spartans team. In 1990, he played summer baseball for the Falmouth Commodores. This team is part of the Cape Cod Baseball League, which is a famous league for college players.
Joining Major League Baseball
The Chicago Cubs picked Ozzie in the fifth round of the 1991 MLB draft. This meant they wanted him to play for their team. He made his first appearance in Major League Baseball with the Cubs on April 26, 1995.
Moving Between Teams
Ozzie played for a few different teams during his career.
- On March 31, 1997, the Cubs traded him to the Cincinnati Reds.
- For the 1999 season, he signed with the Seattle Mariners.
- In 2000, he joined the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Ozzie Timmons' Coaching Career
Coaching for the Tampa Bay Rays
After his playing career, Ozzie Timmons became a coach. He worked as a hitting coach for the Durham Bulls. This team is the Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. Triple-A is the highest level of minor league baseball. In 2018, he was promoted to the main Tampa Bay Rays team. He became their first base coach. He coached for the Rays until the end of the 2021 season.
Coaching for the Milwaukee Brewers
After leaving the Rays, Ozzie Timmons joined the Milwaukee Brewers. In 2022, the Brewers hired him and Connor Dawson to be their hitting coaches. He coached for the Brewers until the end of the 2024 season. On October 21, 2024, the Brewers announced that Ozzie would not be returning for the 2025 season.
Returning to the Rays Organization
On January 22, 2025, Ozzie Timmons returned to the Tampa Bay Rays organization. He took on a new role as a special assistant for coaching development. This means he helps other coaches get better at their jobs.
