A P-Patch is a special piece of land used for gardening. This name is mostly used in Seattle, Washington. The "P" in P-Patch first came from the Picardo family. They owned a place called Picardo Farm in Seattle's Wedgwood area. Part of their farm became the very first P-Patch. Some people mistakenly think "P" stands for "pea" (like the vegetable), but that's not true!

One of the most interesting P-Patch spots is on top of a parking garage! This garage is located on Mercer Street at the Seattle Center. It's a huge garden, about 25,000 square feet (2,322 square meters). This special garden opened in 2012. It was planned to close in 2020, but people in the community protested. Because of their efforts, the garden was saved and is still open today!
