P. Narendranath's Early Life

P. Narendranath was born on July 18, 1934. His birthplace was Nellaya, a village in Kerala, India. He could not finish his basic schooling. This was because his family faced money problems.

When he was 19, he started working at Cochin Commercial Bank. He worked there as a clerk. Later, he studied hard and earned a special degree. It was a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Banking. In 1963, his bank became part of Canara Bank.

Even though he worked as a banker, he loved writing. He started writing books for children. His very first book was published when he was just 18 years old. He kept writing and became a very important writer. He helped shape children's literature in Malayalam. Some of his stories were even translated into Tamil and Hindi.

P. Narendranath received many awards. These awards honored his great work. They showed how much he helped children's literature.

His Family and Legacy

P. Narendranath married Smt Amrutha Kumari. They had four children together. Their son was named Mohandas. Their daughters were Anitha, Vinitha, and Sunitha.

One of his daughters, Sunitha Nedungadi, is a talented ghazal singer. Another daughter, Vinitha Nedungadi, is a dancer. P. Narendranath passed away on November 3, 1991. A dance academy in Palakkad is named after him. It is called P. Narendranath Memorial Sree Vidya Academy.
