PROSOCO facts for kids
PROSOCO is a company that started a long time ago, in 1939! They make special products used in building and construction. Imagine buildings needing a good cleaning, protection, or even a way to stay strong and not let air or water leak in – that's what PROSOCO's products help with. Their main office and factories are in Lawrence, Kansas, in the USA.
A Look Back: PROSOCO's Story
PROSOCO began in 1939. It was first called the Process Solvent Company. Back then, they made special cleaners for cars and trains in Kansas City. But in the 1950s, building new homes and offices became very popular! So, the company decided to focus on products for construction and keeping buildings in good shape. In 1967, they shortened their name to "PSC," which later became PROSOCO.
PROSOCO has helped with some really famous buildings! For example, they worked on the United States Capitol Building. This huge project involved carefully cleaning off 150 years of old paint and dirt from the Capitol's west side. They also helped fix the Pentagon after the sad events of September 11 attacks. In 1997, a special cleaner from PROSOCO was used to help preserve parts of the Smithsonian Institution, which is a famous museum complex.
In 2013, PROSOCO's products were used on the Bullitt Center, a building known for being very green and energy-efficient. In 2015, a system from PROSOCO that helps buildings keep air and water out was named one of the top 10 products by Building Green, a group that focuses on eco-friendly building.
