Pablo Campos' Football Journey
Starting Out: College and Amateur Teams
Pablo Campos began his football journey playing for Fresno Pacific University. He was so good that in 2007, he was named to a special All-America team. After college, he joined the Fresno Fuego, an amateur team in the USL Premier Development League.
In 2007, his first year with Fresno Fuego, Pablo scored 18 goals in just 15 games. This made him the top scorer in the entire league and earned him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Even though some big teams like Real Salt Lake wanted him to play professionally, Pablo chose to stay in college. He played one more season for Fresno Fuego in 2008, scoring 14 goals in 10 games.
Becoming a Professional Player
In July 2008, Pablo Campos signed with GAIS, a professional team in Sweden. He played his first game on September 24 and started his first match two weeks later.
In February 2009, Pablo joined the San Jose Earthquakes in Major League Soccer (MLS). He scored his first professional goal on April 18, 2009, in a game against the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Later in July 2009, Pablo was traded to Real Salt Lake. He quickly made an impact, scoring his first goal for the team on August 26. This goal helped Real Salt Lake win 4-0 against Chivas USA. A few days later, he scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory against the Kansas City Wizards.
Pablo and Real Salt Lake had a fantastic season in 2009. They won the MLS Cup, which is a huge championship in American football. Pablo played less in 2010 and left the club before the 2011 season.
Playing in the North American Soccer League
In April 2011, Pablo signed with the Carolina RailHawks in the North American Soccer League (NASL). After one season, he joined the new team, San Antonio Scorpions, in February 2012.
That year, Pablo won two big awards: the Golden Boot for scoring the most goals and the Golden Ball for being the league's MVP. In 2013, Pablo moved to Minnesota United, where he continued to score many goals. On June 3, 2015, he became the all-time leading scorer in the modern NASL.
Pablo joined another NASL team, Miami FC, before the 2016 season. He also played for Vlora FC in 2022 and 2023.
